GrabIt 1.7.2 ßeta 4 released! - 03/05/2009
I'm working on a brand new version of GrabIt at the moment full with new features, but Niels Teusink found a security flaw in GrabIt that needed fixing. So I took the old code from GrabIt 1.7.2 beta 3 and did a quick bug fix. Please download and install it as soon as possible. Especially if you use NZB files a lot.

The changes since GrabIt 1.7.2 beta 3 are:
  • BUGFIX: Removed a stack overflow vulnerability in the NZB importer that Niels Teusink discovered
  • BUGFIX: GrabIt no longer disconnects on every server error, lowering the possibility of a 'Connection limit reached' error

GrabIt 1.7.2 ßeta 3 released! - 17/09/2008
I'm on vacation, but I couldn't let you wait for this important fix. More to come when I get back in two weeks!

The only change since GrabIt 1.7.2 beta 2 is:
  • BUGFIX: Files in the Download folder in subfolder "Abc" are now extracted to the Extract folder in subfolder "Abc"

GrabIt 1.7.2 ßeta 2 released! - 27/08/2008
This is the first step to a new release habid where I will work my way up to a stable release. This is the second beta release for GrabIt 1.7.2. There are a few more fixes that need to go in this code to make beta release 3. If that release is out for a while and no major problems are found I will release the same code as Stable and start working on a brand new 1.8.0 beta release.

The changes since GrabIt 1.7.2 beta (1) are:
  • Increased the maximum number of connections per server to 32 again;
  • BUGFIX: Added msvcr71.dll to the installation folder;
  • BUGFIX: Fixed the missing threads scrollbar on lower screen resolutions;
  • GrabIt now defaults to smaller icons for the toolbar (can be changed: Edit->Preferences->Visual->Use small icons);
  • Pruning of cache files now happens in the background;
  • Removed BNS support from GrabIt as the format is no longer in use;
  • Tweaked the new decoder code to improve large file performance.

GrabIt 1.7.2 ßeta released! - 09/08/2008
A lot of work has gone into this new release. Major new features are SSL support, a HUGE improvement in the decoding time and a lot of bug fixes. Just download it and give it a try! If you have a Shemes.com Search and Download account there is also a new SSL server waiting for you! Just log into your Members Only section and use the 'Account information import link' at the bottom to import the new server.

A full list of changes since GrabIt release 1.7.1:
  • Added support for SSL server connections;
  • Rewrote the yEnc decoder for improved speed;
  • Decoder and Repair and Extract now run at the same time to stop the 'Waiting to decode' list from growing;
  • A lot of small performance enhancements;
  • BUGFIX: Some uuEncoded binaries imported via the NZB importer where corrupted or being saved as text files;
  • BUGFIX: Resuming a batch with decoding binaries that are already decoded no longer results in a hanging decoding thread;
  • When there is only one server profile, the NZB importer will just import a NZB file when it is double clicked instead of showing the import window;
  • BUGFIX: GrabIt now detects when the 'gobbledygook bug' appears and resets the connection before moving on to the next download item;
  • Increased the GrabIt Usenet browser history to 90 days of headers;
  • New layout always shows the batch statistics;
  • GrabIt can now continue to download binaries with an 'Article not found' error, increasing the possibility to complete a binary with a PAR set;
  • BUGFIX: 'Error downloading article' bug;
  • BUGFIX: A thread being activated while GrabIt is paused will only start downloading after GrabIt is unpaused;
  • BUGFIX: No more flickering status messages while GrabIt is paused;
  • It is now possible to Repair and Extract to a folder outside of the Download folder;
  • It is now possible to disable the creation of a new folder for each RAR set;
  • BUGFIX: Repair and Extract no longer leaves behind .1 files from repaired file sets;
  • The Pause button now offers the ability to automatically resume after a preset time;
  • It is now possible to Shutdown, Hibernate or Suspend the system or Close GrabIt after the batch has been processed.

New download servers in Amsterdam and Atlanta! - 31/08/2007
We launched two new Usenet servers farms today to replace the old three Usenet farms. One is based in Amsterdam and the other is based in Atlanta. All the current users are migrating now and new users will be linked to the new servers right away.
